About the event
Trekking among the beautiful granite peaks of Val Masino, reaching two peaks of 2700 and 3070 m. Challenging routes, breathtaking views, beautiful suspended valleys, welcoming historic refuges and legends about fantastic animals will give us three days of beauty that only wild nature can offer.
DETAILED PLAN:
Day 1 | Bagni di Masino - Pizzo dell'Oro Centrale - Rifugio Omio
Departure from the Bagni di Masino car park and climb along the path that first reaches the Valle dell'Oro mountain pastures and then the Omio refuge. Short stop at the refuge for a packed lunch and a beer and, after having possibly lightened the backpacks, departure for the summit of Pizzo dell'Oro Centrale (2707 m). From the summit the view is superb over Punta della Sfinge and surrounding peaks. Return to the Omio Refuge for well-deserved relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Difficulty: EE
Difference in altitude: approximately 1600 D+
Duration: all day
Packed lunch, dinner in the refuge
Day 2 | Omio Refuge - Barbacan Pass - Pizzo Porcellizzo - Gianetti Refuge
After an excellent breakfast at the refuge, departure for the Passo dell'Oro first and then the Passo di Barbacan. After a tiring climb to the pass, the descent into Val Porcellizzo is technical and sometimes exposed. But it doesn't end here! Before reaching the refuge, we will deviate to climb to our second peak: Pizzo Porcellizzo (3075 m)! The climb takes place on a stony and bumpy but never exposed path. From the summit the view is truly exceptional, with Pizzo Badile and Cengalo in the foreground. The descent towards the Gianetti Refuge presents a truly suggestive passage, through a real "secret passage" in the mountain.
Once we reach the refuge we will celebrate our successes with a nice beer and a well-deserved dinner.
Difficulty: EE
Difference in altitude: approximately 1500 D+
Duration: all day
Packed lunch, dinner in the refuge
Day 3 | Gianetti refuge - Bagni di Masino
A decidedly more relaxing day than the other two, but which, precisely for this reason, will perhaps allow us to enjoy the beauty of the places that surround us even more. After breakfast at the refuge, we will begin the descent through the mountain pastures of Val Porcellizzo, dotted with granite slabs. Once we reach the bridge over the Masino stream, we will take a lunch break and (why not?) some refreshment in the fresh (iced) waters of the stream. We will be able to admire the peak of Pizzo Porcellizzo from below and marvel at having reached it the day before. Once we continue the journey we will reach the Baths crossing the "Thermopylae", a characteristic passage between two enormous granite boulders.
