About the event
Starting from Alagna Valsesia, a small Walser village on the slopes of the wild SE face of Monte Rosa, we will cross splendid Alpine valleys full of charm, staying overnight in refuges rich in mountaineering history and with original cuisine, to achieve our great goal: to immerse ourselves in wild nature and admire some of the best views of the Alps to touch the Capanna Regina Margherita, located at 4554 m on Punta Gnifetti, the highest refuge in Europe!
DETAILED PLAN:
Day 1 | Alagna-Pianalunga - Orestes refuge
From Alagna you go up with the lifts to Alpe Pianalunga. From here begins our journey which will take us to cross the beautiful Olen valley, skirting the Sasso del Diavolo, guardian of ancient legends and reaching the Passo dei Salati (2936 m), from which we descend to our stopping point for the day, the Orestes refuge which will welcome us with its fantastic cuisine.

Day 2 | Orestes refuge - Gnifetti hut
After an excellent breakfast at the refuge, we set off towards our second destination: the Capanna Gnifetti (3610 m), a historic starting point for many ascents in the Monte Rosa massif. You walk along the Alta Luce (3184 m) and admire the Indren and Garstelet glaciers, until you reach the Mantova refuge. Subsequently, after a short journey on the glacier, we reach the Gnifetti hut, where we will enjoy a well-deserved beer and the breathtaking view of the Rosa peaks (Lyskamm W 4458 m, Lyskamm E 4527 m, Balmenhorn 4167 m, Piramide Vincent 4215 m) and of the Garstelet and Lys glaciers that surround the refuge.

Day 3 | Gnifetti Hut - Regina Margherita Hut - Gnifetti Hut/Mantua Refuge
Summit day! At first light we start from the refuge for the climb up the glacier, passing the Colle del Lys and reaching the Capanna in the morning, located on the summit of Punta Gnifetti at 4554 m! Packed lunch at the Capanna and then descent along the uphill route, until we reach the Mantova Refuge where we can celebrate our finish line!

Day 4 | Mantua refuge - Alpe Pianalunga - Alagna
Last day, let's go down! First a super breakfast at the refuge, then we set off to reach the Alpe Pianalunga lifts, which will take us back to Alagna.

Cost: €750 (min. 4 participants). Registration will be considered completed upon payment of the €300 deposit.
It is possible to repeat the event even on unscheduled dates, upon customer request.

- UIAGM Alpine Guide for the mountaineering part of the route
- trekking planning and management
- notes on the flora, fauna and geology of the environments crossed
- notes on the correct progression and walking technique on the different terrain encountered
- half board in refuge
- customer accident insurance
- use of satellite messaging in case of emergency
The fee does not include:
- transportation fee
- Alagna ski lift costs
- packed lunches (the guides' packed lunches must be divided among the participants)
- alcoholic drinks and soft drinks
- personal expenses
- possible rental of mountaineering equipment
- everything not expressly indicated under "the price includes"
Meeting: 8:00 am in Alagna Valsesia. (Possibility to agree to share the journey by car).
The customer must present himself at the meeting point or at the starting point of the excursion at the time indicated in the communication that will follow after registration. Upon completion of registration, the customer will be added to a temporary WhatsApp group which will be used for service communications, updates and useful information for the excursion.

Hiking backpack with a minimum capacity of 30 l with wide shoulder straps, ergonomic backrest and waist belt for weight distribution;
Thermal shirt;
Batteries;

Trekking and ski socks;
Rain jacket;
Lightweight down jacket;
Berretta;
Gloves (1 pair of light and 1 pair of skis);
Sunglasses (protection 3 or 4);

Mandatory minimum water reserve of one and a half liters, mineral salts and/or supplements recommended;
Sheet bag for sleeping in the refuge;
